The company is a newly established team of several experienced individuals. Some of the management have been working in this industry for 20+ years. Combined, they have successfully performed several million dollars on major civil infrastructure construction projects. They take great pride in their work ethic and quality of projects. They have an extensive list of repeat clients and are always continuing to build their self-performing portfolio.

The Project Manager will report to the Project Director and work collaboratively with team members. Must have extensive civil construction experience and a demonstrated track record of leading and executing profitable infrastructure projects. The individual will take a lead role on project delivery, providing insight and innovative solutions, and liaising directly with client/owners. This role is responsible for establishing project objectives, procedures, and performance standards to support the completion of construction projects, on budget and on time.

You will oversee project controls for construction projects including overall forecasting, cost management, contingency planning, resulting in achieving profitability of the project. Organize and attend regular meetings and contribute technical direction to the pre-construction process for planning and estimating tasks, and acts as a technical resource for the project team during construction. Manage resources and coordinate project teams. Review, understand and facilitates the execution of project contract, liaising with legal counsel and Department Managers. Lead procurement activities for projects and ensure front-end duties are completed prior to the project start date. Accountable for the timely and accurate submission of progress billings and support for receivables collections. Work with all on-site personnel as required to identify and resolve issues, ensure quality control, and support the overall project schedule and goals. Creates and maintain project schedules. Uphold project safety expectations.

A minimum of 5-10 years' experience in civil construction of various infrastructure projects such as earthworks, roadbuilding, excavation & shoring, and underground utilities. Proficient with software such as Microsoft Project, Adobe, and all Microsoft Office programs. Valid Driver's License Required. Post-secondary education with a degree in construction management, civil or structural engineering preferred.

Must possess excellent communication and problem-solving skills, both verbal and written with superior interpersonal, relationship and organizational management skills. Must be approachable and capable of working efficiently with an open-door policy. Possess a demonstrated ability to lead and direct projects, analyze issues, and bring innovative solutions to achieving work plan objectives. Must be people oriented with an ability to establish a high degree of credibility with staff and clients.

Monetary

  • Payments on time - send draft estimate 25th of each month forecasted to end of month finalize first week of the month
  • Accruals - Accounting to send 15th of the month and submit back in 5 days.
  • Ensure daily production reports are being submitted by site staff. Confirm site supervisors are aware of payment items
  • Payable invoice approvals. Checking quantities and rates
  • Extra work orders - Ensure notice is being given and daily records submitted. Keep EWO tracker up to date.
  • Issuing/reviewing PO's for rentals (this was originally operations)

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Ensure a pre-job meeting is completed with the site supervisor - see pre-job meeting list
  • Ensure foreman and locate binders are onsite. Keep an eye for jobs we go back to after a period of time
  • Ensure hazard assessment has been completed and reviewed with the crew onsite
  • Monitor hours of work and confirm lunch breaks are being taken when required. Review timesheets daily as they come in and provide comment to site supervisors
  • Review production reports for the next day and critique as necessary. Confirm trucking requirements, Vac truck needs, flagging needs, etc.
  • Ensure as-builts are completed by site supervisor and handed in on time.
  • Rental reviews weekly and ensure any new needs are reviewed and approved prior to being sent to site.
  • Scheduling - ensure additional contract days are being requested when needed (i.e. weather, extra work, etc.)
  • Scheduling - ensure materials and subcontractors are available when we need them.
  • Material orders and issuing PO's. Confirm returns are being completed in a timely fashion and follow up with credits. Use CUC inventory where possible.
  • Create and maintain job files
  • Complete weekly forecast
  • Complete a weekly site inspection for each job you are managing and email to management.
