We're excited to be delivering a key infrastructure upgrade in the Tilbury area of Delta - helping build capacity for the community's continued growth.
Tilbury is a major industrial area and neighborhood located in North Delta, along the Fraser River, known for the FortisBC Tilbury LNG facility and a large industrial park. It serves as a key hub for manufacturing, logistics, and liquefied natural gas (LNG) production, with significant infrastructure for shipping and export.
Our team is currently installing approximately 1 kilometre of 700mm HDPE sanitary forcemain along 72 Street. This new large-diameter pipeline will extend the existing system from 68 Avenue to the south end of 72 Street, just north of the South Fraser Perimeter Road overpass.
The pipeline is being installed using conventional open cut construction methods, ensuring proper alignment and long-term performance of this critical sanitary infrastructure.
What This Project Includes
Because of the pipe size and depth, this work involves careful planning, specialized materials, and coordination - particularly with challenging soil conditions. Construction planning must also account for the City's irrigation window (April 14 – October 31), during which higher water levels are maintained in adjacent irrigation canals to support local farming operations.
The City of Delta has secured the necessary environmental approvals, and we are implementing a comprehensive Construction Environmental Management Plan to ensure the work is completed responsibly and safely.
This project represents another important investment in essential underground infrastructure - improving reliability, increasing capacity, and supporting long-term development in the Tilbury area.
