The project scope was the installation of 600 meters of complicated sanitary trunk main. This project was the third phase of work in a series of upgrades to accommodate increased sewer flows in an area due to ongoing residential and commercial development and densification.

With deep trench excavations, adjacent traffic and working at night , CUC was up to the challenge and has successfully completed another phase of this trunk main. Unique to this project was a tie in to a existing 1200mm diameter Metro Vancouver sanitary sewer manhole in the busy intersection of Scott road and 72nd Ave in Surrey/Delta which required an application for alternate measures to Worksafe BC for works under part 9 of the WSBC regulations for working in a confined space.

The newly installed large diameter sewer was made of PVC, required bypassing of live sewers and works on an active roadway. Traffic control operations were deployed for each shift using internal resources. Final road restoration, including milling and final overlay of asphalt took place after the sewer installation.
