Complete Utility Contractors just wrapped up the phase 2 of the sanitary force main sewer upgrade project in West Vancouver that involved digging an 8m deep excavation for a sewer line.

How deep can an excavator dig?

  • Completion Date: October 2024
  • Start Date: September 2023
  • Client: West Vancouver

Prior to construction starting, to facilitate the work, 3,650 square meters of vegetation was cleared along with 215 tree/stump removals. The installation of pipe consisted of 820m of 300mm diameter sanitary sewer gravity main, 350m of 300-400mm diameter sanitary sewer force main and 140m of trenchless sewer pipe bursting, complete with 11 sanitary sewer services and 22 FRP and precast concrete manholes.

The project also included the installation of a pump station, wet well, generator and communications kiosk. A wet well is designed to collect sanitary sewer flow at a low point in the system and pump it upwards to a higher elevation to flow into a gravity sewer.

  • 8m deep wet well excavation
  • 300m of 12" HDPE sanitary force main
  • 800m of gravity fed sewer
